The Startfinder website contains information provided by Deutschen Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH on behalf of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation (BMZ).
Startfinder provides information for the following countries:
Startfinder is aimed at the following target groups:
- Those who have fled to Germany who are considering returning to their own countries of origin
- Those in the above-mentioned countries of origin who are seeking prospects in their country
- Those in the above-mentioned countries of origin who are considering migrating to Germany
- Staff at repatriation advice centres in Germany
The Startfinder website's objective is to bundle the relevant information and make it easily accessible in the language relevant to the target groups. It focuses on reintegration services in the countries of origin and on measures in Germany in preparation for reintegration.
The Startfinder website is part of the BMZ "Returning to New Opportunities" programme. This provides information to those not wishing to or having no prospect of remaining in Germany. It supports them after returning to their country of origin and creates start-up opportunities in selected countries. Assistance is available in the countries of origin regardless of whether the return was voluntary or not. The advice and occupational qualification courses in Germany are provided irrespective of residency status.
The BMZ "Returning to New Opportunities" programme has been ramping up since March 2017. In that time it has supported people wanting to return to Afghanistan, Albania, Ghana, Iraq, Kosovo, Morocco, Nigeria, Senegal, Serbia and Tunisia. Egypt and Pakistan are further target countries for the programme; cooperation with a GIZ project in Gambia is already established. The programme offers advisory services in the named countries. This website contains further details about each individual advice centre.
