An easy way to find a job

Do you want careers advice or are you looking for a job in The Gambia?

The Department of Labour (DoL) will be happy to give you career guidance and advice. It can also help you to find a job.
 

1. Finding a job: The DoL puts you in touch with potential employers. It has a large database of vacancies that it can use. An advisor will also help you to create your profile. This profile is based on your needs, skills and abilities. The advisor will then use it to see which vacancy from the database is suitable for you.
    
2. Careers advice: do you know what career you’d like to follow, but not the path that gets you there? The advisors can help you to achieve your career goals. The DoL can arrange various training and development courses. These enable you to get a qualification.
    
3. The DoL helps you to write your CV and to prepare for interviews.

Better job opportunities

The Institut für Policy Management (SMD) cooperates with the Gambian-German Advisory Centre for Jobs, Training and Reintegration (GGAC) to offer courses.

The courses last 2 days and aim to make it easier to enter the job market.

These courses cover:

• Job hunting
• Writing an application letter
• Interview techniques
• Communication in the workplace
• Presentation skills
• Self-management and time management
• Teamwork

Reintegration Assistance

Are you looking for a job or thinking of changing jobs?  
Then you are welcome to contact the Gambian-German Advisory Centre for Jobs, Training and Reintegration (GGAC). 

The GGAC can help you to find a job. It can refer you to employers and advise you on job changes and advanced training.

Would you like to start your own business?  
The GGAC is also happy to give advice about starting a business.

Job vacancies on the internet

The Gamjobs website list jobs throughout the Gambia.
You can upload your CV to the site and create a personal profile. This will allow employers to find you when looking for staff.
The website also offers:

• advisory services
• help with writing
  • your CV
  • your covering letter.

You will have to pay a fee for some of the services.
