Help for returnees

The African Development Organisation for Migration (AFDOM) helps people returning to their country. AFDOM runs the Village of Hope centre in Tamale.

It offers various services there:

• advice for returnees
• financial help and advice for start-ups
• temporary accommodation
• temporary health insurance.

The centre offers courses in the following fields:

• sustainable agriculture
• weaving
• tailoring and dressmaking
• dying and batik work
• soap making
• painting and design
• welding
• glass making
• reading and writing (learning or improving).

The Village of Hope is located in Tamale.
The services and training courses are free of charge.

Small loans for businesses

The Microfinance & Small Loans Centre (MASLOC) is run by the government. It lends money to start-ups.

To get a loan, you have to apply. You will find the invitation to apply on the website and in the newspapers. You will have to pay back the money that you borrow.

MASLOC also offers training courses. In these courses, you can learn how to use the money you borrow successfully in your company. The training courses are free of charge.

Call the info-line to get advice. You can also visit the MASLOC office to get answers to your questions.

Help for start-ups

The National Entrepreneurship and Innovation Plan (NEIP) is a programme run by the Ghanaian Government. It aims to support new businesses.

There are different services you can use:

• advice for start-ups
• financial support
• work spaces
• technical support
• a professional network.

NEIP offers a range of different training courses. For example:

• writing a business plan
• developing your business idea.

The help is free of charge. But you have to apply first to be able to use these services.
You will find the invitation to apply on the website and in the newspapers.
