The staff of the German Centre for Jobs, Migration and Reintegration (MAC) will also be happy to advise you if you are looking for a school or university.

The Centre will also help you to prepare important documents.

Training: the oil and gas sector

The Gulf Technical and Safety Training Centre (GTSC) in Erbil offers courses in the field of oil and gas.
The training covers all the phases of work from extraction through to the sale of oil and natural gas.

There are a number of different courses in the technical and health and safety fields.

A qualification from GTSC will enable you to work in the oil and gas industry. In GTSC’s training programme you will learn about:

• drilling
• pipeline systems
• electrical engineering
• mechanical engineering.

GTSC also trains people to work in the field of health and safety in oil and gas installations.

Getting started in the oil industry

The Baghdad Oil Training Institute is the largest learning centre for jobs in the oil industry in Iraq. It is located in Baghdad. It provides training in the following fields:

• technology/engineering
• electrical engineering
• telecommunications.

There are also many other courses. For example on:

• checking the quality of oil
• metal processing
• health and safety.

Some classes are held in a lecture hall; others are in a technical laboratory. You will be able to use the institute’s technical equipment and computers.

There are student hostels where you can rent a room. You can apply to train at the institute. You will have to pay a fee for the courses.
