Training in welding

Mudiame Welding Institute (MWI) offers various training courses. All courses are to do with welding.

You can apply for the training online. The level of previous knowledge that you need is different for each course. The length of the courses also varies.

Students must have their own protective clothing.

Training for technical jobs

At the Institute for Industrial Technology (IIT), you can train in:

  • electrotechnics
  • electromechanics
  • mechatronics.

The training courses last between 6 months and 3 years.

As a trainee on a dual vocational training course, you go to school for 2 years. You then spend a year in a company. Here you do the practical part of your training.

The courses are only for male applicants. You must be at least 16 years old. You must have a knowledge of mathematics and physics. You can apply at any time. Please find information on how to apply here: https://www.iit.edu.ng/admissions/admission-requirements

You will have to pay a fee for the training.

Training courses for industry

The Industrial Training Fund (ISTC) offers a range of industrial training courses.

There are courses in the following fields:

  • electrical installation and maintenance
  • mechanical maintenance
  • auto mechanics
  • welding and metal processing
  • instrumentation and process control.

A training course lasts 2 to 5 days. It costs approximately 40,000 to 50,000 naira.

There are 5 training centres in Nigeria:

  • Abuja
  • Kano
  • Ikeja
  • Lokoja
  • Jos.
