e-Taggat is a website that helps young women and men to look for a job and get started in their working life. One of the organisations that set up e-Taggat was ANPEJ, the Senegalese employment agency for young people.

You can use this website to network. You can also take part in online learning; there is a range of different courses. You must be between 18 and 35. You can use the website free of charge.

There are also mentoring programmes. That means that you can get individual help from someone with a lot of experience.

Training for welders

The Pôle de Développement Industriel (PDI-SA) in Dakar offers a range of skills development opportunities for welders. To be accepted on a course, you must already be able to weld.

You can gain a number of different qualifications.

You will have to pay a fee for the course.

Training for technical jobs

The Centre d’Entrepreneuriat et de Développement Technique Sénégal-Inde (Entrepreneur and Technical Development Centre (CEDT – le G15)) in Dakar offers training courses in a number of different fields. Applicants must be at least 23 years old. Training is available in:

  • geomatics
  • mechanical maintenance
  • electronics
  • electrical engineering
  • refrigeration and air conditioning technology
  • metallurgy
  • civil engineering.

Funding for young people

3FPT was set up by the government. It helps young women and men to pay for their training.

You can apply for a voucher to train for a job. Applicants must be between 16 and 35 years of age. Training is available in the following areas:

  • information technology and communication; here you will learn how phones work, for example
  • mechanics
  • skilled trades
  • sport
  • culture
  • tourism
  • horticulture
  • poultry farming
  • farming
  • construction
  • logistics.

The Office Nationale de Formation Professionnelle (National Office for Vocational Training (ONFP)) can advise you on training courses throughout Senegal.

ONFP will help if you are looking for training opportunities in Senegal. It has a lot of information on this topic.

ONFP also runs its own training courses. Training is available in the following areas:

  • farming
  • electronics
  • energy
  • the gas industry.

You would have to pay for these training courses, but you can get financial help.
