The comic volume “Sara” tells the story of a young Senegalese woman’s successful and regular migration: after her school-leaving exam, Sara was assisted by the Senegalese-German Centre for Jobs, Migration and Reintegration (CSAEM) to go to Germany and study Architecture. She worked in Germany after her graduation and progressed to managing a construction company.
This young architect now wants to give something back to her country of origin. The Migration and Diaspora Programme commissioned by the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) has enabled Sara to travel to Senegal for six months to provide expert support to a local company building a harbour in the western Senegalese city of Mbour. Speaking of her motivation, Sara says: “Providing my knowledge and abilities to benefit my country is a patriotic duty for me.”
The second volume in the Clandestino series is also a joint production by the Senegalese agency Créatif Pencil and the Senegalese-German Centre.
