GHANA JOB FAIR 2022 (GREEN EDITION) LAUNCHED IN ACCRA

Accra, 17 August 2022: The Ghanaian-German Centre for Jobs, Migration and Reintegration (GGC), in partnership with the Ministry of Employment and Labour Relations (MELR), its Labour Department, the Youth Employment Agency (YEA) and the Delegation of German Industry and Commerce in Ghana (AHK Ghana) have launched the Ghana Job Fair 2022 (Green edition) at a ceremony held at the Accra City Hotel. The launch, which was also streamed live on the facebook page of the GGC
(@GhanaianGermanCentre), offered opportunity for the organisers of the Fair to share in detail, what the public and hopeful participants could expect from this year’s edition, scheduled to take place at four different regions in September 2022. The venues and dates are:

  • 14th and 15th September: Accra and Sunyani
  • 26th and 27th September: Kumasi and Tamale

The Ghana Job Fair 2022 (Green Edition) will serve to bring together job seekers and employers on a joint platform, as well as to provide orientation on career prospects and skills demands on the labour market of the future. A critical focus will lie on the promotion of sustainable employment in “green” jobs. Further, it will enable young graduates to acquire the necessary skills and mindset for innovative and sustainable approaches to employability in the fast-transforming employment space. The fair is hinged on the core areas of boosting ecofriendly and digital work, networking between jobseekers and industry and highlighting the Government’s employment efforts to stakeholders. Lastly, the Ghana Job Fair 2022 (Green Edition), seeks to inspire the youth to consider green start-ups that transition to a more sustainable economy by developing sustainable and environmentally friendly entrepreneurial innovations into the labour market, creating wealth and sustainable job opportunities for others.

In his remarks, the Head of the GGC, Mr. Benjamin Woesten highlighted the positive outcomes the German Government’s cooperation with the Government of Ghana has yielded, especially with its joint effort in employment promotion measures through past job fairs. He stated “the GGC and MELR have successfully organized 5 job fairs with a total of 10,927 participants joining our various career and skills development trainings organized alongside the fairs. In all, close to 600 job fair attendees have been placed into direct employment.” He called on all aspiring job seekers as well as hiring companies to make use of this unique opportunity.

The Ghana Job Fair 2022 (Green Edition) is part of the interventions of German Development Cooperation in Ghana and co-funded by the German Federal Ministry of Economic Cooperation and Development and the Ghanaian Ministry of Employment and Labour Relations through the Youth Employment Agency.
