Assistance after returning

Have you just returned from Germany to Albania? Do you first need to get your bearings and look for an opportunity to start again? Help is available with this. The URA Albania reintegration project is there for you. Please take note of the conditions below.

URA Albania offers advice and emergency aid in the first few weeks and
months after returning. This assistance makes it easier to make a new start in Albania.

The individual support you get depends on your personal needs. It starts off with you having a confidential chat with one of the project’s social workers in Tirana. He or she will then work with you and your family to prepare a plan that sets out the help you need.

URA Albania offers help like the following:

  • Welfare advice
  • Psychological counselling
  • Emergency aid in the form of contributions in kind
  • Special help for children

Conditions: You can get help from URA Albania if you have come from one of the following federal states in Germany: Baden-Württemberg, Berlin, Brandenburg, Bremen, Lower Saxony, Rhineland-Palatinate, Saxony, Schleswig-Holstein.
You can only get help after voluntarily returning if you come from one of the following states:
Bavaria, North Rhine-Westphalia, Saxony-Anhalt, Thuringia.

One further condition is that you must have lived in Germany for at least 3 months immediately before your return.

Help for victims of torture

The Albanian Rehabilitation Centre for Trauma and Torture (ARCT) is part of a network that operates all over the world. The Centre is a central point of contact for victims of torture.

The network can help you:

  • if you were tortured
  • if you are suffering trauma as a result of being tortured
  • if you are looking for legal advice.
