The uncertainty was gone

The uncertainty was gone

My name is Naa; I'm 29 years old and come from Ghana. I used to work as an event manageress. In 2015, I went to Germany to start a master's degree course in Development Economics and International Studies. But it was clear to me from the start that I would return after I finished. I wanted to help my country develop. At the same time, I was uncertain how I could build a future there.

I received answers to my questions via an information event at the university in Germany: representatives from the "Centre for International Migration and Development, CIM for short, introduced me to the "German-Ghanaian Centre for Jobs, Migration and Reintegration" in Accra, shortened to GGC. I knew right away: this is a good starting point for me.

So I returned to Ghana at the beginning of 2019 after completing my course. After returning, I immediately visited the GGC in Accra. The staff advised me about my options and offered me job application training. This course taught me how to write a CV and conduct an interview.

I was soon able to use this knowledge at a job fair. The GGC drew my attention to the event. I got to meet several companies at the fair and introduce myself – with success: the "Sparkassenstiftung für internationale Kooperation" offered me a job. I now work as Marketing and Communication Manager in their project office in Accra.

As of 01/2020

"The job fair and the advice provided by the GCC were a great way to advance my career. I would highly recommend their services."
